The best way to break out of a rut or learn new stuff is to always spend some of your practice time on something NEW or something you can't play well. Sounds simple, but actually doing it is the key. We all sit down and just play the stuff we know, because it's fun! But for serious progress you gotta just buckle down and make yourself play the tough stuff.
